Frequently Asked Questions

+ What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is at 10am. If you are staying in the Barrel Hideaway and arrive between 2-5pm we provide a demonstration on the wood fired hot tub.

+ My car is a 2-wheel-drive, will it be okay to travel to the property?

The driveway from the front gate to the Hideaways is 1km long and a typical rural dirt driveway. Many guests visit in 2-wheel-drives, but you do need to travel to conditions and take your journey slowly. If arriving at night, keep your eyes peeled and watch out for the suicidal wildlife that have a tendency to jump in front of your vehicle.

+ Can children stay?

The Hideaways have been designed as romatanic getaways emersed in nature. A place to indulge, relax and have a well deserved getaway. While we do allow children, we are not equipped with any appropriate furniture, so if you were to bring a young infant you would need to be well prepared.

+ Is there WiFi available? What about reception?

A stay at the Hideaways is about being in the moment. There is no WiFi available and minimal Telstra reception at the property. Don’t let this phase you though, it’s the perfect opportunity to disconnect from the world and connect with the one around you. When you stay at the Hideaway, focus on connecting with your self, your partner and the nature that surrounds us.

+ Can I smoke at the Hideaway?

You are welcome to smoke outside only, but please dispose of your butts responsibly as the Tasmanian bush is prone to bushfires.

+ Tasmania can be cold, how do we heat the hideaways?

There is a wood heater in the Hideaway to keep you warm during your stay. You will find all the supplies necessary to start and tend to the fire, inside your Hideaway. There is extra wood stored in the woden box on the deck. If you are unsure how to start a fire, we would be happy to give you a hand.

+ What happens if there is a fire ban?

If there is a fire ban you can still use your inside wood heater, however unfortunately we can not use the fire within the Barrel's wooden hot tub. If you are staying in the Barrel Hideaway, we will arrange to have the tub filled via gas hot water, ready for when you arrive. Then the next day the tub can be enjoyed as a plunge pool.

+ Will we have power, I saw the hideaways are off grid?

Power to the hideaways is through solar energy, with a backup generator on standby for when needed. Please be mindful and turn off any lights when heading out. If the power happens to go out or you would like to go for an evening walk, you will find a torch located on the fridge.

+ The water is discoloured, is it okay to drink?

At times our water may be discoloured, but it is straight from the mountain. It is pure spring water at its finest, fed from the creek that runs through the property to your room.
